The acclaimed Butcher Brown five-piece band is back with another album delving into the full musicality of its members, delivering a heady home-brew of jams and jazz, rhymes and beats. Triple Trey featuring Tennishu and R4ND4ZZO BIGB4ND is a big-band album, originally written and produced by the band's MC and multi-instrumentalist Tennishu as a hip hop record. Since its inception, the project evolved into Butcher Brown's own eclectic ode to big band jazz, their first foray into this format. A beautiful one for the Richmond-based collective.

Triple Trey is both trail-blazing in its approach to classic jazz, bringing the band and the R4ND4ZZO BIGB4ND to lay down a collage of jazz suites for a hip-hop album, and simultaneously mashing together elements of the soul, funk, and rock influences that has formed the band's musical identity. The result is sometimes epic, sometimes touching, sometimes raw. And that’s what’s the Butcher Brown spirit might be all about, iterating on afro-american musical genres and creating unique sounds within that realm. Available on vinyl, via Concord Jazz.

Butcher Brown are: producer / keyboardist DJ Harrison; drummer Corey Fonville; bassist Andrew Randazzo; trumpeter / saxophonist / MC Marcus “Tennishu” Tenney; and guitarist Morgan Burrs.
