Ghanaian highlife musician Rex Omar has recently released a self-titled album on Soundway Records. With a career spanning 30 years, Omar has become a prominent figure in the Ghana music scene, pushing boundaries and experimenting with new sounds. The album features four premier cuts from his critically acclaimed Dangerous album, which was released in 1997 and distributed exclusively in West Africa. These tracks have been given a fresh new sound and are accompanied by another song from his 2004 album, Ajala.

The album's sound is a blend of street-soul-come-highlife-90s RnB, set to appeal to aficionados of different genres. Aroop Roy, a London based producer, adds up a contemporary taste to the project, with his modern rework of the four-to-the-floor scorcher “Dada”. The album is a testament to Rex Omar's skills as a musician and his ability to blend different sounds to create something unique. His rich cultural background is reflected in the range of sounds that can be heard on this album, making it a must-listen for lovers of West African music and anyone looking to experience something different. The reissue and Soundway Records' involvement in this project bring Omar's music to a wider audience, ensuring his legacy endures for generations to come. Available on vinyl.
