frits wentink: timid kickflip ep

See this content in the original post

The enigmatic dutch producer and visionaire Frits Wentink seems to have opened the vaults of his world of dusty percussions, outer-world synth textures and hypnotic melodies. Following on the Bobby Donny Soundsystem record, released in May, he dropped the Timid Kickflip EP, also via Bobby Donny. This boundary-blurring collection of 4 tracks tracks showcases his unique blend of quirky, sample-rich production and hazy, instrumental hip-hop influences. While leaning towards the deep house realm, Wentink's sound is transcendental, resulting in an EP that is, as per usual in his discography, refreshingly unconventional.

Standout tracks on Timid Kickflip include the mesmerizing "You Talk Funny," where a pulsating bassline interplays with otherworldly elements, creating an alien-like sonic experience. "Forestation" takes a dive into the realms of warped, mind-bending tech-house jazz, merging intricate rhythms with avant-garde textures. Finally, "Shred Bread" delivers a deliciously hazy and hypnotic journey into dub-infused house, enveloping us in its mesmerizing atmosphere. With its unconventional soundscapes and intricate production, Timid Kickflip EP solidifies Wentink's reputation as a true innovator. Available on vinyl.
