lord & dego: bmx beats
Matt Lord and dego have been sharing creative outputs for a while. Via dego’s legendary 2000Black imprint, they collaborated in the 2018 The One Way To The Other, and in a series of releases with the help of Kaidi Tatham and Mr Mensah. BMX Beats is their latest record to come out on 2000Black, faithful to the high-karat discography from the label.
As per usual in their productions, Lord and dego are able to create dance music that flows easily in the complexity of its combination with organic elements. This is particularly present in the fat basslines, the groovy guitars and in the flow of keys. Sitting comfortably at the crossroad of electronic and jazz music, with trademark broken beat and afro-infused progressions, BMX Beats is another all-round great EP dropping from 2000Black. Available on vinyl, for the collectors.
