acousmatics: clay ep
Francisco Espregueira
Dope Tones Records presents another high-karat leftfield jazz record, this time introducing the Acousmatics quartet and their new EP Clay. Hailing from the nu-jazz scene in Strasbourg, much fueled by Dope Tones output, Acousmatics deliver two anthemic original tracks, accompanied by two deep house remixes by the prodigious Ben Hauke and the amazing multi-instrumentist & producer Geoff Roy.
This young band has been part of the “Omezis” collective, a group of musicians that includes Emile Londonien, another act that we had the pleasure of featuring before. In Clay they deliver fast paced groovy rhythms that feel organic and live, taking in inspirations from UK jazz and broken beat. While the two originals are representative of the band’s vision, the remixes add an extra dancefloor class to the EP. Shout out to Dope Tones releasing new jazz/brokenbeat sounds from the Strasbourg scene. Clay is available digitally.
