Following his 1989 LP debut, Fred Aster returns with a magic trip of jazz-hop textured rhythms and delivers a new EP via his own Blur Records imprint. Summer Madness sees the Angolan DJ and producer connect with Malawian lyricist Postnegative for the lyrics of the original track and presents remixes by Donnie Moustaki, HATT.D and Selva.
Although based in one single track, the EP manages to travel across different sonic regions: from the jazzy, Dilla-esque vibes of the instrumental, passing by the r&b-influenced hip hop of the Vocal version to the deep house of Selva’s remix. Summer Madness is one of the smoothest records we’ve been listening to.
