juravlove: Балтийский Хаус
Francisco Espregueira
After sourcing and collecting some really tasty house tracks released over the last few years, we finally take a dive into a more complete work from Juravlove - real name Igor Zhuravlev, a producer, promoter, DJ and radio host based in St. Petersburg, Russia. Балтийский Хаус directly translated to Baltic House is a very smooth and exquisitely produced deep house album just released via System 108, with a clear nod to hip house traditions, with Igor’s multi-lingual rap adding a unique flavour to the project. As a member of DJ crew “poliritm” and a host of “Bad Bad Song” radio show, he is very active in local, burgeoning electronic scene, playing regularly in clubs like Tancploshadka, Kuznya and others. Балтийский Хаус is a better and more complete portrait of the Russian work, following nice releases on labels such as Noire & Blanche and Scruniversal Records, among others.
Балтийский хаус с берегов невы. Or “Baltic house from the banks of the Neva”, the river that crosses St. Petersburg, Juravlove’s home city. A effortless and cheeky description that matches the ethos around the 10 tracks that comprise Балтийский Хаус, filled with a breeze, basslines and warm vocals on a special easy vibe. A superior vibe, should we say. Like drinking Pina coladas in the snow. Балтийский Хаус is available digitally, with cassettes available via Telegram, directly with Igor. Yes, yes.
