kid sublime: the paradigm shift
Francisco Espregueira
Tomorrow, October 24th, Kid Sublime presents his new release The Paradigm Shift via Natural Element—an Amsterdam-based producer whose roots in piano, drums and hip-hop have led him into deep house, soulful loops and broken-beat explorations. The album’s 8-track double LP format comfortably allows him to stretch wide: house grooves, bruk rhythms and even techno touches all wear his signature soulful brush. The collaboration with London and Sydney artists plus flautist Han Litz gives the project that live-chamber feel—even when it’s designed to roll on the dancefloor.
From the reflective dusk of “The Awakening” through the uplifting “Heaven’s Glory” and right into the club-ready title cut, The Paradigm Shift feels like a late-night walk between living-room intimacy and a vinyl-crate party. It taps into the London broken-beat tradition via Kid Sublime’s own connection to that scene (mentioned around the time of the passing of legend Phil Asher) while shining his own light with warmth and precision. Natural Element, the label behind it, has given him that breathing space—and you can hear it: no rush, no trend-chasing, just music with heart, groove and purpose. Available on vinyl.
