We’ve been following King Mutapa’s work for a while. His original, fuzzy, wonky, jazzy approach to house music has been becoming something quite distinguishable. Hailing from South Africa, he connects to Leicester-based Kooley High Records to deliver a surprising three-track EP, Konnektion to Hallucinations. Kooley High keeps delivering a brand of deeper obscure sounds with plenty of groove, diving into raw-soulful-deep-mellow sonic textures.
Konnektion to Hallucinations is an incredible deep and twisted house EP. We can listen to Mutapa’s trademark sound more polished than ever, bringing in influences from hip hop and galactic experiences. Over three tracks we jump out of objective reality into a world of colours and psychedelic motifs. Equally good for clubs and streets, this EP is a lil’ piece of gold. Available via Bandcamp.
