kristoffer eikrem: at times

Francisco Espregueira

Following up on the magnificent Afternoon Assortment project, released last year, Kristoffer Eikrem returns with another smooth collection of music. Released by Etymology Records, At Times dives deeper into the world of lofi, while also prompting us to discover new horizons with intersections of jazz, hip hop, electronica and r&b. As an award-winning and critically acclaimed artist with a long career as an instrumentalist and composer, collaborating with the likes of Ivan Ave, Bendik Baksaas, Fredfades, Vuyo or Ol' Burger Beats, Eikrem cements his status as one of the best underground producers in European territory.

The title, At Times, suggests experiences, memories and emotions captured in form of sound. Kristoffer Eikrem is a magician in these occasions, creating music for a life that is full of different moments that can be captured and shared. It resonates with us… The album consists mainly of solo tracks by the Norwegian producer, except for the two tracks “Jam Session” featuring renowned jazz pianist Kjetil Jerve and “Hopeful” together with iconic chillhop producer HM Surf. At Times is a 12-track opus that flows seamlessly. Track after track. Available digitally, At Times can also be available in cassette, for special collectors. The crowdfunding at Qrates is worth to check.

In “At Times”, I have worked detail-oriented with intricate melodies and chords, but at the same time I have focused on creating a warm and mellow musical atmosphere - in a soundscape that is somewhat more electronic than what I have previously done.
