French DJ and producer Laroye is on a mesmerizing journey through the electronic music scene, having just released another wonderful EP via Freerange Records. With a rich musical portfolio that spans from broken beat on Faces Records to funk and boogie with Qwestlife Glitterbox, Laroye is known for his genre-blurring approach. His music has found a home on respected labels like Atjazz Recordings, Compost, Makin Moves, and Foliage. The new record, First Sight is a follow-up to his well-received 2020 release, Be The Change, testifying his versatile and innovative approach while cementing his status as one of the most interesting producers in the European electronic music scene.
First Sight kicks off with the title track, featuring the soulful vocals of influential Detroit artist Javonntte. Laroye's signature fat beats, jazzy chords, and soulful production create the perfect backdrop for Javonntte's compelling vocals, resulting in a track that's bound to captivate listeners. This is followed by a stripped-back, percussion-heavy dub mix of "Uku Dance” - a dynamic tool for DJs to ignite the dancefloor. The original mix for "Uku Dance," combines a bass-heavy groove with intricate vocal chops and deep Rhodes chords, crafting a moody, dubby, afro-infused composition that will undoubtedly get house enthusiasts grooving into the late hours.
