Under the name Saul, the duo composed by Barney Whittaker (Footshooter) and Jack Stephenson-Oliver (Vels Trio / Poppy Ajudha / Charlotte dos Santos), has spent the last couple of years working on material for their impressive debut EP, dropping through Rhythm Section International. Murmurations works equally well in a club as it does in our living room, balancing musicality and groove.
The six tracks burn with an intense London smell and couldn’t fit more perfectly with the expansive sound of Rhythm Section, releasing another brilliant project. Murmurations pays homage to the textures of garage, jungle and broken beat - all in the context of the new wave of London jazz music - of which all members of this project, featuring the vocals of Brother Portrait and Poppy Ajudha, are key players. Organically, Saul are able to provide fast paced moves and progressively deep grooves. Available on vinyl.
