slxm sol: simple love ep
Francisco Espregueira
Following SQR006 (Soul Quest Records, 2024) Slxm Sol returns with Simple Love EP, a super smooth release that feels right at home again on Soul Quest Records, the East London–rooted label he co-runs and helps shape. Known for blending deep house warmth with London’s broken beat heritage, Slxm Sol leans into emotion without overstatement. The EP moves fluidly between styles, reflecting his background as both DJ and producer, and his steady rise since earlier Soul Quest releases caught the attention of tastemakers across the UK and beyond.
At its core, Simple Love EP balances intimacy and groove. The title cut drifts through smoky, jazz-touched broken beat, while other moments explore dustier bruk rhythms and soulful house tones that nod to New Jersey and London. The supreme Kai Alcé steps for an anthemic remix, while Laville and BB James contribute on vocals that work in perfect harmony. There’s a lived-in feel to the production, relaxed but intentional, with space for melody and rhythm to breathe. It’s a record that rewards repeat listens, capturing the reflective side of the dancefloor while staying grounded in community, craft, and late-night energy. It drops tomorrow and it will be available on vinyl.
