Diogo Vida is a Lisbon-based pianist and composer with a wondeful approach to different musical contexts. Through his piano he's been exploring various sonic experiments, best heard in two projects released this year - El Duende and August - mixing electronic music and jazz improvisation.
August is a five-track EP that smoothly invites the listener to dive deeper as it plays. A fresh project starting with obscenely groovy tracks such as "August" and "Lost Tourists" and mindful moments in "Love Number Alpha" or "Say Goodbye (Marbles)". It slowly fades away by the end, transpiring the talent of the men behind the keys.
This EP follows El Duende, in which Diogo Vida commands a live trio - piano, bass and drums - with a modern approach to bop. 2018 brought us two inspiring projects from Diogo that can be enjoyed in digital and physical formats. We gravitated with easiness around them, here at o sótão.
