Reginald Chapman is an instrumentalist, composer and arranger, from Williamsburg, Virginia. As a frequent presence in big bands, orchestras, and alternative rock groups, Reginald Chapman leaves his talent-footprint as a (bass) trombonist with a huge sound, a taste for exploration, and an affinity for playing from the heart. Prototype is his debut album, released by Fresh Selects. The label adds that “the whole record is about finding your creative groove and reinventing yourself. “
Chapman’s bass trombone is accompanied by a rich instrumentation from his band of players throughout Prototype, grabbing clear influences from classic jazz musicians, while sounding modern and utterly creative. Showing his magnificent skills as a musician, Chapman also creates a dialogue on the political and social climates of today with tracks such as "We Shall Overcome".
Prototype dropped today, via Fresh Selects. It's a record to revisit from time to time. We're sure we'll find different angles and details each time we do it. Available in CD and all digital formats.
