Francisco Espregueira

Jay Sound is your favorite producer’s favorite producer. His numerous mind-blowing EP releases, followed by this year’s 90’s ethereal cinematic LP release Japan, created a feeling that something very special was about to drop. Horizon is one of the records of 2021, comprising Jay’s most personal and versatile work to date - filled with warm, beautiful chords and riffs from legendary keyboards like the Fender Rhodes, Wurly & even the classic Vintage Vibe. The sound hailing from this record is beyond perfection, with the protagonist expressing all of his talent as a keyboardist, composer and mood connoisseur.

Horizon blends aerial textures of ambient sounds, with Jay’s incursions into electronic jazz, deep house music, broken beat and funk. His signature deep bass lines are blended with jazzy breaks & percussion that makes this a unique and visceral experience - a meeting of ancestral African theories with Afro-American urban sounds. This experience of 16 tracks carries an emotional weight so particular to Jay Sound’s vision. It challenges us to dive deep into something - whatever that may be - that goes beyond music. Available through bandcamp this is a record that deserves a vinyl edition. Special work

This is a album i’ve never done before and was super excited and emotional about creating it. Each track is a story of a larger happening that took place during that time for me and how it speaks to me shifting, broadening my horizons & realizing “Normal” is truly something i can never go back to.
