joint4nine: from the hood ep
Francisco Espregueira
Ritmo Terco launches its 2025 with a vibrant offering straight from their own stable: From The Hood, the latest EP from label head Joint4Nine. This four-track journey dives deep into his signature sound, a delectable fusion of deep, soulful disco house and a myriad of influences that tend to lean towards nightly wee hours textures. From the melancholic jazz-infused opener "What A Lovely Way To Burn," where infectious basslines and groovy drums set the stage, to the high-octane blend of disco and electro in "Disco Ball," Joint4Nine showcases his mastery of crafting rhythms that resonate on a visceral level.
From The Hood EP continues its exploration with "Climb The Wall," a nostalgic yet forward-thinking tribute to old-school house, seamlessly weaving acid rave elements with a contemporary electro edge. The release culminates in the spoken-word Detroit deep house of "I’m From The Hood," a genre-defying track that infuses hip-hop and funky soul samples with acoustic percussion and acid motifs, providing a unique and compelling conclusion. Through these diverse yet cohesive tracks, Joint4Nine, on Ritmo Terco, reaffirms his position as a purveyor of deeply engaging and dancefloor-igniting sounds. Available on Bandcamp.
