v.a.: beats from the levant - a tape for support
Francisco Espregueira
Our full support to Metro Beirut Records and this beautiful compilation dedicated to the people of Gaza and Lebanon suffering tremendous injustices and pain. Their struggle for justice is honored by an extensive range of unnamed artists (the names for this compilation are secondary), that in 12 tracks expand through various genres, speeds, and textures interconnected through a mesmerizing use of Arabic music sampling.
Crafted from the heart of the Arab world, Beats from The Levant pays homage to the region’s musicians and their timeless masterpieces. Half of the proceeds will go to various relief efforts in Lebanon, while the other half will support the MAP (Medical Aid for Palestinians). Available in a limited edition of cassettes, this is not only a humanitarian gesture to help alleviate some of the very real human suffering in our world. It is also a fantastic and very original addition to our collection of music. Available through Bandcamp.
“We can’t fully grasp the suffering in Palestine and Lebanon, but the pain ripples through us all. Now, more than ever, we feel the need to stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters, their struggle for justice and freedom entwined with our own. Through the power of music and community, we amplify their voices and carry their fight forward.”
