Glenn Davis, Javonntte, Rick Wade, DJ Compufunk, and Lee Andre step up with a united vision on Galactic Disco EP, the latest multi-artist dispatch from Vibes & Pepper. Curated by Bryan Hervieu, the label's founder, the release taps into something cosmic yet grounded—a future-funk fusion where deep house doesn’t just move bodies. From Davis’ “Whatcha Gonna Do,” where space-funk synths ride a slick, deep groove, to Rick Wade’s heavyweight “Hammer” (finally seeing daylight on vinyl), there’s a sense of both reverence and rebellion at play.
What’s striking about Galactic Disco EP is how fluidly it shifts shape. Javonntte dials into a heavier percussive current on “Dexter Avenue,” full of cosmic overtones and low-end swagger. Over on the B-side, DJ Compufunk brings some Tokyo-born flair with “Cosmic Echoes”—a tightly wound, breaks-infused roller that feels equal parts warehouse and wormhole. Then Lee Andre seals the journey with “Space Groove,” a squelchy, synth-drenched jam tailor-made for late-night glide. With its nods to disco, boogie, and the purple-hued universe of Prince, this EP echoes the sound of a futuristic nightclub. Available on vinyl.
